Sir Tony Blair has advised Britain to welcome AI medical professionals and nurses as he said the world was 'in the foothills' of the greatest tranformation given that the Industrial Revolution.

The former prime minister declared AI might have an effect on civil services by making them much better, cheaper and more efficient.

He said, if he was in power today, he would be considering 'how you reorganise the whole government around how you welcome and gain access to this revolution'.

The ex-Labour premier laid out how 'all the regular jobs' in Whitehall might be maximized by innovation.

Sir Tony said it was 'ridiculous' the UK hadn't yet made NHS data available to harness innovation.

He also provided a withering verdict on the civil service, declaring it was a 'conspiracy for inertia' with a 'genius for taking in the motivation for modification and suffocating it'.

A current Government try out AI - involving 20,000 civil servants across 12 major organisations - saved authorities approximately 26 minutes a day.

It demonstrated how AI tools might maximize Whitehall personnel from 'repetitive administrative jobs' and provide greater value for British taxpayers.

Speaking at the SXSW celebration in London, Sir Tony stated: 'We remain in the foothills of the most transformative transformation because the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century.

'Government's all about procedure, so you could utilize AI to accelerate the procedure of the government, ensuring that we do, for example, all the routine jobs of government far more effectively.

'You might be responding to people in a a lot more sensitive, quicker, much better, more effective way.

'If, for example, you have the ability to merge data sets across departments, you're going to save money.

'You're going to analyse, based on health data, in such a way that permits you to make better health policy.

'And after that, when you look in public services, you should have the ability to personalise education in the future.

'You could have AI tutors, you should have AI nurses, AI medical professionals. We are already doing a lot of imaging much, better through using AI.

'It will make [government] much smaller sized, more effective, cost less and give a much better service to the client.'

Sir Tony said AI was neither 'great' nor 'bad' but a power that needed to be utilized properly.

He urged 'resistant' officials to welcome the brand-new innovation, including: 'When I was maturing, people said the civil service was a Tory conspiracy.

'And when I acted, I understood it wasn't a conspiracy for the Tories or for Labour.

'It's a conspiracy for inertia, it has actually got a genius for soaking up the inspiration for modification and suffocating it.'
